Rosemary Pfluge, 72, of Whiting, died in the crash on Saturday, Aug. 17, the Lacey Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the scene on County Route 539 near milepost 20 at around 11:28 p.m.
Police found a 2012 grey Jeep Liberty partially overturned about 50 feet in the woods. Pfluge was trapped in the SUV with serious injuries.
Forked River and Whiting firefighters extricated Pfluge from the Jeep. She was rushed to Community Medical Center and pronounced dead at the Toms River hospital.
Investigators said Pfluge was driving north on County Route 539 when her SUV left the road and crashed into several trees.
